Understanding confessions of judgment

What the document is, without a legal opinion.

Two people review papers together at a bright desk. Temporary photograph. Not a client, testimonial, or case result.

Some commercial agreements include a confession of judgment or a similar clause. In general terms, it is language about a judgment that may be entered without a full lawsuit. Whether a particular clause can be used is a legal question.

This article does not say that a clause is valid, void, or already in use. It does not say that a court will enter or refuse a judgment. Those questions belong with a lawyer in the relevant state.

What a business review can and cannot do

A review can note that the document exists and keep it with the rest of the file. It cannot cancel the clause, stop a filing, or speak for a court. Blue Vanguard is not a law firm. This is general information for business owners. It is not legal, tax, or financial advice, and it does not describe a Blue Vanguard result.
